Ashington FC have sent their condolences to the family of Curtis Coppen following the passing of his mum Kathleen last week.
Following the 4-2 home defeat against Shildon at Woodhorn Lane on Saturday, Colliers boss Ian Skinner said: “If I’m honest, football was second a little bit today because Curtis (Coppen) is in our squad and he’s lost his mum this week. That puts everything into significance and perspective. Everyone from Ashington FC sends their condolences to him and his family for what will be a very difficult time.”
Skinner added: “We’ve told Curtis to take as long off football as he needs and when he’s ready to come back and play, obviously we’ll welcome him back with open arms.”
