Preview - 06.07.2019 Preview - 06.07.2019

Tomorrow sees Ian Skinner take his squad down to Hall Lane for their opening pre-season friendly of the 2019/20 campaign. Durham City are once again ground sharing at Willington’s Hall Lane whilst hoping for a move back into Durham.

Durham City are no strangers to manager Ian Skinner who managed the club alongside Adam Furness between 2012 and 2014 when Durham were in the First Division of the Northern League.

Ahead of the game, Ian has been working tirelessly to build his squad for the upcoming season, and this will be the first test for the team as some of last seasons players are joined by both newcomers to Ashington, players returning who have been with us previously and a number stepping up from our very successful under 17s side of last year.

Ashington’s last six results against Durham City are below:

19/07/2016 – Friendly - Ashington 2 Durham City 0

30/01/2016 – League (D1) – Durham City 2 Ashington 3

22/08/2015 – League (D1) – Ashington 2 Durham City 0

18/04/2015 – League (D1) – Durham City 0 Ashington 2

09/12/2014 – League (D1) – Ashington 2 Durham City 0

23/11/2013 – League (D1) – Durham City 2 Ashington 3

When Ian Skinner was joint manager with Graeme McCabe back in 2006/07, these were the results against Durham City:

07/04/2007 – League (D1) – Ashington 0 Durham City 0

28/11/2006 – League (D1) – Durham City 5 Ashington 0

Ashington will take nothing for granted going into tomorrow’s game as Durham have also built a very good squad over the summer and this game has the prospects to be a great contest.

We will bring you updates via our social media channels during the game if you are unable to attend, but please be aware that GoalShouter will not be used for our pre-season matches.

Following this game, our next pre-season game will see us welcome Bedlington Terriers to Woodhorn Lane on Wednesday 10th July, kick off for this game is at 19:30.
