Jack Butler was recalled to the Blyth Spartans squad for their home game against Hereford last weekend.
The striker signed for Ashington in September on a dual registration and in five months has featured prominently scoring 12 goals including a hat-trick in the recent 5-3 away win at Guisborough.
Ironically after netting a 95th winner on his debut for the Colliers against Whickham, the call up meant the youngster missed Ashington’s game at Whickham on Saturday and interim manager Ian Skinner said: “Hindsight is a wonderful thing but if you look at the chances we had in the first half at Whickham today, I think Jack’s pace would have caused them (Whickham) problems. Jack is dual registered with Blyth Spartans and ourselves and obviously they made a call to take him into their squad for the game against Hereford where he was on the bench.”
