Ashington FC manager Steve Bowey admitted that his side had created enough chances to have had victory effectively sewn up at Ryhope CW before the home side netted twice in ten minutes through Michael Rae and Josh Home-Jackson to take the points on Monday night.
It was the Colliers second defeat in four days after they went down 3-0 to West Auckland on Saturday and Bowey said afterwards: "I'm disappointed. We should have definitely been one maybes two goals up by half time after creating some great chances and I have just said to the players in the dressing room that goals change games. We then concede a penalty early in the second half which could have been prevented and when they scored from it, the goal gave them a little bit of a lift."
He continued: "We went chasing the game after that and didn't get to grips with the second half but overall we've created enough over the 90 minutes to have taken something from the game. That's consecutive games without scoring now but I'd be a even more concerned if we weren't creating chances.
We played with two up front again and tried to freshen things up a bit and did enough first half to have won the game." He went on: "Performance wise we did okay and it's a tough place to come too but now we have to focus on Billigham Synthonia away on Thursday and look to do better in front of goal."
