YMCA Sleep Easy 2020 YMCA Sleep Easy 2020

YMCA Northumberland is calling on local people to come together and take part in the Sleep Easy Fundraiser and sleep rough for one night.

Ashington Football Club are proud to be hosting this year’s event on Friday 6th March 2020 between 7pm and 7am which will see supporters sleep out for one night to raise awareness of the hundreds of young people who sleep rough every year, as well as raise funds to help YMCA Northumberland to support young people in their services.

Participants will spend the night out with the chance to build your own cardboard shelter. YMCA Northumberland has hosted a number of Sleep Easy nights since 2010 and raised thousands of pounds in that time to support services to vulnerable young people in the area. In 2019 Sleep Easy participants in Northumberland raised an amazing £7500 in sponsorship.

Rob Cox, YMCA Northumberland Chief Executive, said: “We’re delighted to be holding this year’s Sleep Easy event at Ashington Football Club. At Sleep Easy 2019 the Chairman and the club gave us so much encouragement and support, so to be holding the event this time round at the ground will be really special”

“We are calling on the local community, old and young, to sign up to our Sleep Easy to help us support our services today and into the future. One night out can make a lifetime of difference.”

Brian Shotton, Ashington FC Chairman said “As a club I am proud that we have been given the opportunity to host this year’s event to raise awareness and funds to help prevent homelessness and sleeping rough. It also gives the club the opportunity to work with a great organisation in the YMCA who carry out valuable work with young people in the community.”
